Restoring the Classic: Bringing 'Mom's T-Bird' Back to Life

The journey began with the decision to use a Scott’s Hotrods and Customs full-frame chassis, complete with custom-built front and rear coilover suspension and Wilwood disc brakes. This modernized foundation would allow the T-Bird to maintain its classic appearance while benefiting from improved performance and safety features. The goal was to create a car that could withstand cross-country travel without the need for frequent fuel stops.

When the family approached Driven Restorations, they had one simple request: bring 'Mom's T-Bird' back to its former glory and add some extra power under the hood. Steve and Molly were thrilled to take on the challenge, having restored numerous classic cars over the years, each with its own unique story.

The 1959 Ford Thunderbird arrived at Driven Restorations in late 2018, already complete and ready for work to begin. With a rich history dating back to 1961, when it was purchased as a daily driver for the current owner's mom, this T-Bird had fulfilled its duties faithfully for three decades before being parked due to mechanical issues in the early 1990s.

With the clock ticking down to the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV, Steve and Molly are hard at work to ensure 'Mom's T-Bird' is ready to shine on the show floor. This iconic American muscle car is sure to turn heads with its sleek Colonial White paint job and powerful performance upgrades.
